CACTAFERRUM (2014) (cac-ta-fe-rum)
Inspired by the structure, form, and life cycle of cacti, this piece combines the organic and mechanical. The structure is comprised of 13 stalks of varying heights, arranged in a cluster, mounted on a hexagonal base. The stalks have three states representing the three stages of a plant’s life cycle. The shortest and furthest from the center are the sprouts. These terminate at a point. Second in height, surrounding the central stalk are the buds. These terminate with a fixtures that house a flame effect. At the center of the structure is the tallest of the stalks topped by a flower. The flower is a hexagonal acrylic fixture mirroring the shape of the hexagonal base.

FUEGO ARBORI (2015) (fue-go ar-bo-ri)
The sculpture stands at 24’. It is composed of four major components. At the bottom are three root/trunk like supports. These are 13’ tall. The three legs meet at the central brace that acts as a mount for all other components. In the center of the mount is an elongated shaped steel cage. This cage is made of curved tubing of two different diameters. The cage house the central flame effect. This is controlled by a button in the fuel depot.
Around the central feature are six branches. The branches span about 10’ out and 11’ up. Each of the branches is made of three stems that divide further to nine tips. The branches are mounted to the hexagonal central brace protruding from each point. The tips of these are crowned by eternal flame effects. These serve as the wick system for the branch effects.
In addition to the fire tips, each branch features one spring loaded flame effects. This makes for a total of six poofers. The poofers are linked, with steel cable, to chains hanging from the central brace. These chains are what activate each effect. One chain per effect.

The sculpture stands at 24’. It is composed of six major components. At the bottom are four root/trunk like supports, 13’ tall. The four legs meet at the central brace that acts as a mount for all other components. In the center of the mount is an egg shaped Faraday cage. This cage is made of curved stainless steel tubing of varying diameters, inside this cage is the Tesla Coil.
Around the gland like cage are eight lotus petals, these petals are automated in order to open and close as needed. These have a white acrylic shell and serial addressable light systems. Surrounding the cage and petals are 16 branches. These are structured like the branches of a tree however, their shape and position allude to the form of a brain. The branches are adorned with globe LED light fixtures, that slowly shift through the spectrum of light. When activated, the piece demonstrates the blooming of the crown chakra and the activation of the Pineal Gland. The sculpture comes to life as the eight petals bloom open revealing the Faraday cage and the Tesla coil. When the petals open the Tesla activates filling the egg-shaped structure will bolts of lightning.

The sculpture stands at 18’ in height. It sits on a 6’ diameter octagonal base. There are a total of 17 stalks rising from the base. The stalks are separated in four sizes. Eight of the shortest stalks are on the outer edge of the composition. There are five stalks at the next level. There are three stalks at the next height and one in the center of the composition.
With the exception of the central one, the stalks are tipped by a globe light fixture. Each fixture is set to a slightly different hue in the spectrum. They all shift through the whole spectrum creating an array of color combinations. The central stalk is tipped with the seep pod. This component is a steel orange peel like pod that has split open to release its seeds. The action is represented by the flame effect housed inside the pod.

CUBISIMOS URBANO (2011) (cu-bi-si-mos ur-ba-no)
Cubisimos Urbano explores the idea of artificial lifeforms. The 15 foot piece juxtaposes the mechanical with the organic, it strives to mimic and understand the forces of nature that suround us. Like most living organisms its name has roots in Latin. Cubisimos comes from the cube pods that terminate each branch and Urbano symbolizes urban foliage. The sculpture’s 17 light fixtures shift gradually through the spectrum of light representing the vibrations of life.
